What to expect to have done at the office when you come for the testing for glaucoma

These are the common tests and investigations that you need to have when you come for a consultation or a follow-up for glaucoma. These tests are arranged to get the most accurate information about your eyes in the most efficient way.  We like to do using the least number of visits to the office. Your eye health as well as your time is important to us. Some of these tests are covered by OHIP but some are not. You will be informed of the cost of any testing that you would need before it is done and you have the right to accept or refuse these test that involve extra cost. Insurance companies and ODSP/Ontario works cover some of these tests.

More important that the actual results of these tests are the changes that would happen overtime. If the results are stable, the glaucoma is well controlled. If the results are progressive however, the glaucoma is not well controlled. If you have abnormalities but they are not changing over time, this is possibly because they are not cause by glaucoma as these changes would be progressive. This is why it is very important to keep regular follow-up appointments throughout your lifetime.
